Seogyo-dong is a trendy neighbourhood known for food, fashion and music. It’s popular with university students and has a youthful feel. Hongik University Street is the beating heart of Seogyo-dong. The lively thoroughfare is lined with cafes, bubble tea shops and Korean BBQ restaurants. Try local dishes like “maekjeok” marinated pork, “samgyupsal gui” grilled pork belly and “dak bulgogi” chicken cooked in a sweet and sour sauce. You’ll also find fashion-forward stores selling clothes, cosmetics and accessories.

Shop for handcrafted souvenirs at the Hongdae Art Market. It’s held on the Hongik University campus and is packed with stalls run by local artisans. Gyeongui Line Forest Park meanders through the city and passes by Seogyo-dong. The six-kilometre-long park occupies a former railway line and is a beloved green space.
