About Mid-levels

Things to do in Mid-levels

Get lost in the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, a lush oasis in the heart of Mid-Levels. A sanctuary for wildlife, the sprawling park is home to orangutans, golden lion tamarins and bright pink flamingos. Trails wind through the gardens and take you past towering bamboo, fragrant magnolias and vibrant bauhinia orchids, the national flower of Hong Kong.

Ride the famous Mid-Levels Escalators, one of the longest outdoor covered escalator systems in the world. More than 800 metres long, the escalators take you past a plethora of boutiques, galleries and restaurants. As you explore the network, you can enjoy fantastic views of the Hong Kong skyline.

From hip brunch cafes to hole-in-the-wall noodle houses, Mid-Levels is a foodie hub. Indulge at Michelin-starred restaurants and sip craft cocktails at trendy bars. Dine at local restaurants and try Hong Kong specialties like fish balls, stinky tofu and pineapple buns.

Visit the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum and learn about the legacy of the famous Chinese statesman. The museum is housed in a handsome Edwardian-style building and features exhibits on the former leader of the Chinese Nationalist Party, who helped abolish the Qing dynasty.

Getting around Mid-levels

Mid-Levels is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. The Mid-Levels Escalators are a fast, fun and convenient way to navigate the hilly terrain. Public buses connect Mid-Levels with other parts of Hong Kong Island and taxis are readily available. Central is the closest MRT Station and located at the foot of the Mid-Levels Escalators. The neighbourhood is a 15-minute drive from the Hong Kong city centre and 30 minutes using public transport. Hong Kong International Airport is a 40-minute drive away.
