Where to stay in North Haven

About North Haven

Surrounded by sparkling waterways, North Haven is a charming village at the mouth of the Camden Haven River. It lies wedged between the Pacific Ocean and Queens Lake, offering a range of water-based recreational activities and immersive natural beauty.

Things to do

Stroll along the Grants Beach Coastal Walk, which leads from North Haven to the cliffs of Grants Headland at Bonny Hills. It passes through melaleuca swamp, wildflower heathlands and eucalypt forests, with the opportunity to spot honeyeaters, black cockatoos and white-bellied sea eagles along the way.

Queens Lake is surrounded by a nature reserve renowned for its wildlife sightings, particularly koalas, which can be seen perched in the old growth gums. Launch a kayak from the small wharf, cast a line out or go for a leisurely swim.

Looking for somewhere to enjoy brunch? North Haven’s main street is lined with riverside cafes and restaurants where you can dine alfresco. You can then wander down to the dune-backed sands of Rainbow Beach or head further north to take on the waves at Grants Beach.

For some of the best views in New South Wales, travel across the bridge that spans Stingray Creek into the neighbouring town of Laurieton. A walking trail leads from its western edge through Dooragan National Park to the spectacular scenic summit of North Brother Lookout.

Getting around

North Haven is 30 minutes’ drive south of Port Macquarie Airport, with regular flights to Sydney and Brisbane. Buses connect to the surrounding towns and North Haven is compact enough to explore on foot.
