About Taishan District

Fu-Da Night Market is packed with sizzling stalls and serves some of the best street food in the city.

Things to do in Taishan District

Mingzhi Academy is one of the oldest buildings in the district, built in 1763 by famous academic, Hu Chuo-yo. It’s one of the best-preserved examples of Qing Dynasty architecture in the city and features a handsome red-brick façade and swallowtail roof. Educational panels offer more information on the unique history and heritage of the building.

Visit the bustling Fu-Da Night Market at Fu Jen University to try classic Taiwanese street food like deep-fried squid, “ba-wan” meatballs and spicy vermicelli noodles. For dessert, treat yourself to hand-rolled taro balls and a cup of sweet bubble tea.

Upper Taishan Temple is a splash of colour in the heart of Taishan District. It’s sandwiched between modern concrete buildings and welcomes you with brightly painted statues, colourful banners and swirls of fragrant incense. Next door is Yinghua Da Pai Ecological Park, a lush green space with grassy lawns, decorative hedges and flower-filled gardens.

Taishan Doll Museum charts the proud history of dollmaking in New Taipei City. The city was once home to an enormous Mattel factory, which produced millions of iconic Barbie dolls. Inside you can admire hundreds of dolls, including special edition versions and dolls inspired by traditional Taiwanese cultures and traditions.

Getting around Taishan District

Taxis are a fast and affordable way to get around Taishan District. Taipei Metro trains stop at Danfeng Station and the Taoyuan Airport MRT calls at Taishan Guihe Station and Taishan Station. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is a 30-minute drive away.
