Things to do
Novice skiers and seasoned pros alike will find terrain to suit them at Mount Hotham, which has over 80 runs for skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing. Take in the majestic views from the slopes or admire bird’s-eye vistas on a helicopter ride over the mountains. You can even take a dog sled tour with a team of huskies through the countryside.
Warmer weather offers spectacular hiking opportunities along the famous Mount Feathertop Razorback, cycling tracks for every fitness level and gentle horse-riding trails around Alpine National Park. Mount Hotham has some of Victoria’s best trout fishing in its alpine streams, home to the rare Mountain Pygmy-Possum and endangered Mountain Daisy.
After a long day outdoors, relax in one of Mount Hotham’s day spas and enjoy a hot stone massage, facial treatment, an onsen bath or a session in the sauna. For a refreshing drink, The Bird has an outstanding selection of craft beers, while Blizzard Brewery brews their own beer from pure spring water sourced from the mountains.
Mount Hotham Airport has flights from Sydney between July and September, and the resort is a 4.5-hour drive from Melbourne. Frequent buses travel between the airport, Dinner Plain and Hotham Alpine village. Within the resort, a free shuttle bus service takes passengers between the village and ski lifts.
