Dive into the heart of the city at Uptown Greenville, a local gathering spot for shopping, dining, pubs and galleries. Sample Greenville’s craft beer scene, starting with the full-production facilities and taproom of Uptown Brewing Company. Pick up some local street food, before visiting Pitt Street Brewing Company, home to the renowned Dapple Dog Dry Stout.

Greenville hosts several barbecue and brewery stops on the Pitt County “Brew & ‘Cue” Trail. Pick up a “PassPork” and sample Carolina-style barbecue at Sam Jones and B’s barbecue joints. Afterwards, stop by the Greenville Museum of Art and City Art Gallery, home to raku pottery, blown glass and coastal paintings.

Want to experience life in Pitt County in the 1800s? Tour East Carolina Village of Yesteryear. You’ll find an old-fashioned tobacco barn, country store, stables, schoolhouse and traditional farmhouse. Head over to Greenville’s Agriculture Center to visit the Pitt County Arboretum.

Among the numerous city parks, River Park North stands out for endless recreational offerings, including fishing piers, pedal boats, canoe rentals, picnic pavilions and hiking trails. It also cradles the Walter L. Stasavich Science & Nature Center, a state-of-the-art facility with live animals and interactive wildlife exhibits, as well as a theatre and freshwater aquarium.

Getting around

Public buses, taxis and ride shares operate throughout the city and university districts. Rental cars are available in the city and at Pitt-Greenville Airport, about five minutes away.
