Things to do

Experience the majesty of the night sky at the Songam Observatory, one of the largest space-themed parks in South Korea. Situated atop Geumjeongsan Mountain, it’s home to a telescope where you can get an up-close look at the stars even during the day. Don’t miss the informative Challenger Learning Center and Digital Planetarium.

If you want to experience a traditional Korean market, make the short journey south from Yangju to the Uijeongbu Jeil Conventional Market. Soak up the lively atmosphere as locals shop for homewares, clothing and electronics, then sample the range of enticing South Korean delicacies.

Explore Bukhansan Mountain National Park, which is dominated by sharp granite peaks, lush valleys and gushing rivers. Visit the Bukhansanseong Fortress, perched on a prominent ridge in the far west of the park, then soak up spectacular views of Seoul from Insubong Peak.

Travelling with children? Visit the Jangheung Art Park, which encompasses a number of exhibition halls and striking outdoor sculptures just outside Bukhansan Mountain National Park. It appeals to seasoned art enthusiasts and casual visitors with its innovative hands-on exhibits.
