About Nordfjordeid

Perched at the eastern end of the Eidsfjorden, Nordfjordeid is a peaceful village along the main road that connects Bergen and Alesund. It boasts a rich Viking history and easy access to spectacular fjords and rugged mountain terrain.

Overlooking the water in the heart of Nordfjordeid is the Sagastad, a fascinating museum that brings the region’s Viking past to life through interactive installations. See the reconstructed Myklebustskipet (the largest Viking ship in Norway) and hear about the Viking graves discovered nearby while learning about the rituals and mysteries associated with these seafaring Norse people.

Nordfjordeid makes an ideal base for visiting Jostedalsbreen National Park, which is home to the largest glacier in mainland Europe. It’s also on the doorstep to Harpefossen Ski Centre, which offers access to idyllic mountain farms found along a network of cross-country trails. Closer to the village are several hiking routes that offer sweeping views across the sprawling Nordfjorden.
