Home to multiple sandy beaches, the seaside town of Newquay is considered the surf capital of Great Britain. Newquay is a great destination for foodies, renowned for its Cornish pasties, clotted cream teas and home-made Cornish ice cream.

Things to do in Newquay

Fistral Beach is home to rolling waves and is considered a prestigious surfing destination among many pro surfers. A surfing lesson is a must, so don a wetsuit and take to the waters in a private class. Afterwards, head to Rick Stein’s famous fish and chip shop set just back from the beach.

Travelling with the kids? Blue Reef Aquarium overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and is home to an array of exotic marine species both native to the Cornish coast and from around the globe. There are over 40 different natural habitats to be explored, including those belonging to black tip reef sharks, giant Pacific octopuses and dwarf caiman crocodiles.

History enthusiasts will love the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre, where you can climb aboard the cockpits of iconic fighter jets and experience the flight decks first-hand. The centre is home to both indoor exhibits and outdoor hangers with Cold War aircraft.

Newquay Zoo is spread out over five hectares of tropical gardens and houses 130 animal species. You can enjoy everything from face painting and activity trails to a run through the Dragon Maze. Afterwards, head to the penguin pool or visit the African Savanna exhibit, home to roaring lions and giant elephants.
