About Hovden

Nestled in the dramatic Setesdalen valley, Hovden is a popular winter sports destination between Oslo and Bergen. It’s surrounded by rugged mountain peaks and several sparkling lakes and is Scandinavia’s southernmost location for sightings of wild reindeer.

Ride the chairlift to the start of Hovden’s steep downhill slopes or take advantage of the 170 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails. The Hovden Alpine Centre also boasts one of the best snowboard and free-ski parks in Norway, Bukkerittet, and a dedicated children’s skiing area known as Tusseland where you’ll find kid-friendly trails and a ski carousel.

Dog sledding adventures depart from Tjønndalen in Arabygdi during the winter season while heated pools, a jacuzzi and sauna can be found at Hovden Waterpark & Spa. If you’re travelling in the summer months, you can soak up the spectacular mountain scenery on one of Hovden’s hiking trails or cast a fishing line to lure brown trout in the waters of Hartevatnet.
