With a capacity of 70,000 people, Holmenkollen Ski Jump is one of Europe’s largest ski-jumping venues. It features a hill size of HS134 and the jump features 1,000 tonnes of steel reaching 60 metres into the sky. A holistic design scheme ensures all aspects of the sport is kept in one place, including the competitors, judge’s booths, Royal Family seating, souvenir shops and eating venues.
In addition to regularly scheduled ski jump shows, you can attend the World Ski Championships, Ski Jumping World Cups and the renowned annual Holmenkollen Ski Festival in March. The ski hill is part of Holmenkollen National Area, which offers opportunities for cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic skiing.
Beneath the main ski jump, the Holmenkollen Ski Museum showcases about 4,000 years of skiing history. Exhibits include a ski-jump simulator and artefacts from Norwegian polar explorations. Museum admission includes a ticket to the ski-jump tower lift.
Getting there
Private vehicles are rarely allowed at Holmenkollen Ski Jump, so spectators and skiers arrive by metro train. Use the Holmenkollen Line and exit at Holmenkollen Station. It’s an easy sign-posted walk to the hill and cross-country stadium.
