Since Glasgow’s days as a prominent shipbuilding port in the early 1900s, the River Clyde waterfront has been a bustling hub of activity, now focused around attractions such as the Glenlee tall ship, Glasgow Science Centre and Scottish Power Planetarium. It’s also home to the Glasgow Museum of Transport where you’ll find interactive displays of trams, locomotives, old-fashioned bicycles and model ships as well as a re-created Glasgow street scene from 1938.

Not far from the waterfront, you can jump right into the heart of Glasgow’s shopping districts, including Buchanan Street and Argyle Street, home to St. Enoch Centre. On the other side of the river, more than 100 specialty shops beckon from Braehead Shopping Centre. Pubs, clubs and trendy eateries line the streets and neighbourhoods along the River Clyde as well.

When the sun goes down, you’ll find that the performing arts centres come alive, from King’s Theatre to Theatre Royal and the Glasgow Film Theatre. You can catch a symphony or opera performance at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall or discover local bands and Scottish live music at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut.

Getting around

Public transportation is prevalent in Glasgow, taking you just about anywhere throughout the city and surrounding areas. Take your pick from the urban rail network, the Glasgow subway system, city buses and water buses along the River Clyde. Cycling and walking are common in the city centre
