About Cudillero

Perched on the north coast of Asturias, Cudillero is a colourful fishing village considered one of the most beautiful in Spain. Legend tells that it was founded by Vikings and later became a popular stopping point along the Camino de la Costa, a section of the famous Way of Saint James.

At the heart of Cudillero is the Plaza de la Marina, an atmospheric square framed by the Gothic-style Parroquia de San Pedro. Climb the stairs that lead to the Cimadevilla viewpoint, which offers sweeping views across the village’s terracotta roofs and old port.

If you’re visiting in the warmer months, take a dip in the Cantabrian Sea at sandy beaches such as La Cueva, Oleiros and San Pedro or explore the secluded pebbly cove of El Silencio. Hiking trails wind along the rugged peninsula of Cabo Vidio, which is dominated by plunging cliffs watched over by a stone lighthouse.

Getting there

Cudillero is around 30 minutes’ drive from the centre of Aviles and 20 minutes from Asturias Airport. Trains stop at the nearby Villademar railway station, with buses connecting into Cudillero. The village is compact enough to explore on foot.
