Things to do

Eateries in Benut specialise in fresh seafood, such as Kukup, a Pontian fishing village near the border of Singapore. Looking for a day trip? Head inland to the small town of Kulai, considered the gateway to Gunung Pulai Nature Reserve.

To experience more of Malaysia’s spectacular outdoor scenery, visit Tanjung Piai National Park, located on the southernmost tip of mainland Asia less than an hour from Benut. The area is home to long-tailed macaque, dusky leaf monkeys and various species of migratory birds, as well as kilometres of picturesque mangroves.

Traverse the hiking trails of Mount Pulai, with trail entrances starting as close as 40 kilometres from Benut. At the trailhead of Kampong Sri Gunung Pulai, stop off at the landmark Anggun Café to try local specialties, such as roti canai or nasi lemak.
