About Naracoorte Caves National Park

Located in the Limestone Coast region, the Heritage-listed Naracoorte Caves National Park is one of the world’s most important fossil sites, home to the bones of ancient animals, including megafauna. There are 28 800,000-year-old known cave systems within the park, of which only four are open for you to explore and admire the intricate natural details.

Each cave offers a unique experience, from the speleothem chambers and complete megafauna skeletons in Victoria Fossil Cave to the stalactites, stalagmites and columns in Alexandra Cave. You can also get up close to southern bent-wing bats at the Bat Observation Centre before venturing into the Blanche Cave to see this unique species hibernating on the cave ceiling.

Looking for an adventure? Take a self-guided tour through Stick-Tomato Cave or book an Adventure Caving Tour to explore the unique Fox Cave and Starburst Chamber. Afterwards, head to the Caves Café for a fresh lunch and chilled local wine or cook up a feast using the on-site barbecues.

Getting there
