Tijuana’s Zona Norte neighborhood is at the city’s northernmost edge, adjacent to the United States. It’s immediately north of the better-known Zona Centro, or downtown Tijuana, and offers vibrant nightlife at just about all hours.
La Valentina offers a friendly scene with lively dancing to Mexican music. If you prefer shopping, visit Tijuana’s weekend flea market for just about anything you could imagine at rock-bottom prices. While its location changes weekly, it’s often in or around the Zona Norte.
Foodies can’t visit Zona Norte without sampling some of the famous street food. The various Mexican restaurants and taco trucks, many of which are open late, tend to have excellent burritos, quesadillas, and other classic Mexican fares.
Getting there
The best way to get to Zona Norte is to take a taxi, which spares you the trouble of finding a place to park or worrying about driving a car home late at night. Expect the ride to take about 20 minutes from downtown Tijuana.
