Where to stay in Zhubei City

About Zhubei City

One of the fastest-growing settlements in Taiwan, Zhubei City sprawls on the north bank of the Touqian River, which divides Zhubei City from Hsinchu City. It’s dotted with urban parks and is home to the Hsinchu County Stadium, as well as a historic residence that’s dedicated to showcasing the Hakka culture.

Things to do

Coincide your visit with a live concert at the Hsinchu County Stadium, a multi-purpose facility nicknamed the “Zhubei Dome”. In addition to hosting musical performances and soccer matches in its outside arena, it also features an indoor stadium where smaller productions and exhibitions are held. There are several restaurants surrounding the stadium where you can grab a bite to eat, with everything from Japanese to Vietnamese and Taiwanese barbecue on offer.

If you’re interested in the lifestyle and culture of the Hakka people, don’t miss a visit to the New Tile House, which was originally established in 1805 by the Lin family. Designed as an exclusive village surrounded by walls, it encompasses what is Zhubei City’s largest agricultural area. Browse the changing exhibitions and visit the bookstore before sampling local produce at the organic market.

A short stroll from the New Tile House is Shuizhen Forest Park, an urban green space offering impressive views of Zhubei City’s towering buildings. You can stretch your legs on one of the leafy trails dotted with pagodas and pavilions or watch the koi fish, turtles and ducks feeding in the central pond.

Getting around

Zhubei City is a 10-minute drive from the centre of Hsinchu City and is connected by regular trains to the Zhubei railway station. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is 45 minutes’ drive from Zhubei City. Buses are the main means of getting around.
