Clock Gate Tower soars over the town centre and is a local landmark. It was built in the 1700s and was once a jail for prisoners captured in the Irish Rebellion. After a day of sightseeing, head to a local pub for a hearty meal and traditional live music. Some of the oldest pubs have been pouring pints since the early 1900s.

Wooden boats sail along the Blackwater River. From the water, you’ll get excellent views of Ballynatray Estate, a grand Georgian mansion on the banks of the river. Angling boats depart from Youghal Harbour and take you to some of the best deep-sea fishing spots in County Cork.

Tynte’s Castle was built by a wealthy merchant family to protect goods. The miniature castle once enjoyed a waterfront position, though this was lost when the Blackwater River changed course in the 1800s. Today it towers over the main street and adds to the medieval charm.
