About Tafí del Valle

The high-altitude oasis in Tafi Del Valle rests in a verdant valley between the Calchaquí Mountains and Sierra del Aconquija. Rolling green hills and soaring peaks invite hiking and horseback riding, while the pristine lakes and streams offer refuge from the summer heat.

Things to do

Visit the Quilmes Ruins, a vast walled city left behind by an indigenous tribe that lived in the Calchaquí Mountains over 1,000 years ago. Discover an intriguing history on a guided tour, before following one of the many trails on either side of the valley.

Ride horseback through the beautiful mountain landscapes of Tafi del Valle on a guided tour with El Puesto. Relish panoramic views of the entire valley as you ride up the Calchaquí mountain range to 2,450 metres above sea level. Enjoy a traditional Argentinian barbecue atop the mountain area before returning to the valley.

Raft down the rapids of Los Sosa River or join a kayaking tour across La Angostura Dam, which is 2,000 metres above sea level. Afterwards, stop by Flor De Sauco to sample delicious cheesecake.

Discover 50 megalithic stones at Los Menhires Archaeological Reserve. Dating back more than 2,000 years, these standing rocks bear visible carvings shaped by the indigenous Tafi tribes. The stones originally stood throughout the Tafi Valley, but were brought together to form the archaeological reserve.
