Things to do in Skiathos
The pedestrianised Papadiamantis Street cuts through the Old Town and is lined with cafes, ice cream parlours and souvenir shops. Cobbled alleys and stone staircases wind up to Agios Nikolaos. The picturesque hilltop church commands spectacular views over the town and the sparkling Aegean Sea.
Use Skiathos Town as a base to beach-hop around the island and discover your own slice of paradise. Towering pines frame Koukounaries Beach, a long stretch of golden sand between a pair of headlands. Roll out your towel on the sand or rent a sun lounger shaded by a thatch-roof umbrella. Beach bars dot the shoreline and serve ice-cold drinks and tasty snacks like fried calamari and “gyros” rotisserie meat stuffed into fluffy pitas.
Step back in time at Skiathitiko Spiti, a fascinating local history museum in a traditional stone house. The museum is run by a local family and filled with unique antiques and artefacts. Admire beautifully restored furniture, handwoven carpets and traditional clothing, jewellery and trinkets. Finish with a glass of wine in the courtyard garden.

Getting around Skiathos
Skiathos Town is compact and easy to get around on foot. Local buses are an easy way to explore the island and visit different towns and beaches. Ferries run between Skiathos Town and Agios Konstantinos on the Greek mainland in 1.5 hours. There are also ferries to Volos, Mantoudi and Thessaloniki. Flights run between Skiathos and Athens in 30 minutes.
