About Sesimbra

Sesimbra is a prominent fishing town located at the mouth of the Sado River in the Setúbal District of Portugal 40 kilometres due south of Lisbon. The city’s geographically beneficial situation on the Setúbal Bay nestled at the base of the Serra de Arrábida hills provides for combined economic and tourism sustainability. Sesimbra is referred to as one of Portugal’s most popular beach towns with its endless white sands and prominent natural characteristics.

The heart of Sesimbra is based in Arrábida National Park with its soft sand beaches, forested hills, and looming cliffs. The most popular activities are fishing, hiking, cycling, swimming and sightseeing along the Cabo Espichel and the beaches of Portinho da Arrabida. Sesimbra is also famous for its decadent fresh seafood cuisine provided by its many Marisqueiras.

The Estrada de Escarpa is a scenic drive that offers transit between Sesimbra and Setubal, making rental cars an ideal transportation option. Lisbon’s international airport is located 38 kilometres away. Buses routing from Lisbon to Sesimbra are the most popular form of public transit.
