About Scott

Known as the “Boudin Capital of the World”, Scott is a Cajun sausage-loving town west of Lafayette. It flourished in the late 19th century with the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railway and is a convenient base for discovering the cultural museums and family-friendly attractions of Lafayette Parish.

Travelling with kids? Spend a day at the Epic Family Entertainment Center, an indoor recreation facility featuring a climbing wall, a trapeze and virtual reality attractions. You can challenge your family and friends to a game of laser tag, zip down the spiral slide or take advantage of the arcade games.

A short drive south of Scott is LARC's Acadian Village, a recreated 19th-century Cajun village set along the edge of a bayou. Comprising period buildings that have been beautifully restored, this open-air folk museum showcases life for early settlers. Admire the antiques on display in Doctor Salles’ House and step inside the New Hope Chapel before watching one of the traditional artisan demonstrations.

Scott makes an ideal base for exploring Lafayette, which is home to the Romanesque Revival-style Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist and Alexandre Mouton House. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this Acadian residence features original furnishings from one of the region’s earliest settlers, Jean Mouton. American, European and Asian artwork is on display at the Hillary Art Museum, which lies alongside the leafy walking trails of Girard Park.
