The San Antonio River Walk is a pedestrian-friendly route that connects many of the city’s most famous cultural and historic attractions. It extends for around 24 kilometres, including an eight-kilometre section through the city centre that passes the Shops at Rivercenter and the Arneson River Theatre.
Stretch your legs on the pathways that hug either side of the San Antonio River or explore the waterway during a guided barge tour. Tucked just below San Antonio’s bustling streets, the River Walk is dotted with restaurants and cafes where you can watch all of the action.
The San Antonio River Walk is a scenic way of accessing the historic Alamo Mission and the King William Historic District, as well as the Museum Reach. It’s here that you’ll find the San Antonio Museum of Art and the beautifully revamped Pearl brewery, as well as the VFW Post 76, which was founded in 1917 by Spanish American War veterans.
Getting there
San Antonio International Airport is around 15 minutes’ drive from the San Antonio River Walk and has flights to destinations across North America. Amtrak trains connect to the San Antonio railway station, which is 10 minutes’ walk from the trail.
