Nestled in a deep bay on the Dalmatian Coast, Rogoznica is an atmospheric seaside village and marina located partway between Šibenik and Split. It sprawls across the Croatian mainland and a nearby islet where the village’s inhabitants fled in 1518 to escape the advancing army of the Ottoman Empire.
For a day at the beach, head to pebbly Miline, which is nestled in a sheltered bay and is ideal for families due to its protected waters. You can rent umbrellas and sun loungers at Sepurina Beach, which also boasts an enticing choice of waterfront cafes, or take a dip from the rocky shores of Art Beach.
A short walk from the Rogoznica Marina is the Kapelica B.D. Marije, a centuries-old church that offers magnificent views across the Adriatic Sea. Also not to miss is the Lavender Labyrinth, a spectacular hilltop maze that centres around a whitewashed statue of the Mother of the Sea.
Getting there
Rogoznica is a 35-minute drive from Šibenik and about an hour from Split. Split Airport is 30 minutes away and has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Buses connect along the coastline to Rogoznica and the village is small enough to explore on foot.
