About Rab

Rab is a dreamy Mediterranean island fringed by sandy beaches, turquoise bays and rugged limestone cliffs. The entire island is a national Geopark, ensuring the landscapes remain pristine and untouched. Bask on gold-sand beaches, escape to remote villages and in the north-east corner and venture inland to discover a landscape of rolling vineyards and olive groves.

Things to do in Rab

Rab’s best beaches are strung along the south-west coast and the Lopar Peninsula. Aptly named Paradise Beach is a vision of golden sand and turquoise water. Bask in the sunshine, cool off in the Adriatic and rent a kayak and paddle out to the offshore island. A string of cafes and ice-cream parlours make Paradise Beach great for families. Nearby Livačina Beach is fringed by pine trees and has a quieter feel.

Rab Town, an enchanting settlement filled with red-roofed houses, is a great base for exploring the island. Get lost in the winding stone streets of the Old Quarter and admire St Mary's Campanile, one of the most beautiful bell towers in Croatia. It dates back to the 12th century and towers 26 metres over Rab Town. Climb the wooden staircase for sweeping views over the town centre and the sparkling Adriatic Sea.

Whether you’re looking for a casual meal, a laid-back café or a fine-dining experience, Rab delivers on all fronts. Enjoy traditional dishes like suckling pig, grilled octopus and fish served with wild asparagus. Pair your meal with a glass of wine from a local vineyard. Most bakeries sell their own versions of Rab cake, a local specialty made with almonds, cherry liqueur and citrus zest.

Getting around Rab

Rab Town is compact and easy to get around on foot, with buses running between Rab Town and the Lopar Peninsula. Water taxis are a fast and scenic way to access beaches. Car ferries run between Rab and Stinica on the Croatian mainland in around 20 minutes.
