Sprawling across the Cap Ferret peninsula, Lege-Cap-Ferret comprises 10 villages, dense pine forests and windswept beaches in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of Southwest France. If you’re interested in Lege-Cap-Ferret’s maritime history, pay a visit to Le Phare du Cap Ferret, a red-and-white lighthouse that offers panoramic views across the peninsula from its observation deck. Historic nautical charts and interactive marine exhibits occupy the lighthouse, which was originally built in 1840. The remains of wartime bunkers are also visible near the base of the lighthouse.

At the most southerly point of the peninsula is the Pointe du Cap Ferret, a wooded viewpoint that overlooks the immense Dune du Pilat across the waters of Arcachon Bay. You can stretch your legs along one of the scenic walking trails that hug the cape or kick back on the pristine sands of Plage Cap Ferret.
