About Krivoy Rog

Krivoy Rog, also called “Kryvyi Rih”, is best-known for being the longest city in Europe and has a rich history dating back to the Stone Age. The city is dotted with numerous parks and a verdant botanical garden, along with fascinating museums, a neoclassical theatre and inviting restaurants along the Saksahan river.

Things to do

Nature lovers shouldn’t miss exploring the Kryvorizʹkyy Botanichnyy Sad Nan Ukrayiny, a riverside botanical garden with exhibits in bloom year-round. Spring is best for wandering along the outdoor paths and admiring vibrant flowers, while during winter you can see exhibits in the greenhouses. The adjoining Muzey Hirnychoyi Tekhniky Pivnhzk is an open-air museum with industrial vehicles, including train carriages and bulldozers.

Looking for a place where the kids can run around? Visit one of the riverside parks around town, such as Park Imeni Fedora Mershavtseva, which features a playground and water views. Jubilee Park is on the opposite side of town and boasts its own castle-style playground as well as walking trails and well-maintained gardens.

You can watch a live show at Shevchenka Theater, which was constructed in the 1950s in Stalin’s neoclassicism style. Before the show, make a detour past the City Historical Museum, where you can see sculptures, tools and jewellery belonging to the indigenous people, along with old books and taxidermy animals.

Retail therapy comes naturally at the Liberti shopping mall, which features clothing and electronic stores. Afterwards, grab hearty Ukrainian fare and beer at Parovoz Pub or light bites at Fidel Cafe.

Getting around

Krivoy Rog is serviced by Kryvyi Rih International Airport, which is a 30-minute drive from town. You can use public buses and trams to get around town or hire a bicycle for more flexibility. Some parts of Krivoy Rog can be explored on foot.
