Where to stay in Jinhua

About Jinhua

Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Jinhua combines its spectacular natural scenery with an ancient past and rich cultural traditions. The city dates back to the 2nd century BC and is known for its tranquil temples, world-class opera and water-filled caves.

Things to do

Discover the sacred Wong Tai Sin Temple and learn about the Chinese Taoist Deity, a god said to possess the power of healing. Constructed in 1921, the temple is a tranquil place and beautiful example of traditional Chinese architecture. If you’re lucky, you may be able to witness a ceremony.

Visit Shuanglong Scenic Area and venture inside the Double Dragon Cave. Two stone dragons guard the entrance to the limestone cave, which is filled with illuminated stalactites. If you’re feeling brave, take a boat into the inner chamber and witness two eight-metre-high surging waterfalls.

Explore a fascinating display of architectural talent at Jinhua Architecture Park, set on the banks of Yiwu River. The park is dedicated to famous poet, Ai Qing, and contains 17 innovative buildings designed by Chinese and international architects. For a glimpse into Jinhua’s past, meander down “Old Street”, a narrow lane filled with traditional buildings and an outdoor antique market selling old coins, wood carvings and jewellery.

Do you love the opera? See a performance at the Wuju Opera theatre, the second largest opera group in the Zhejiang province. Admire the colourful silk dresses, painted porcelain faces and delicate finger poses, then be thrilled by an exhilarating display of song and dance.

Getting around

Yiwu International Airport is one hour’s drive or bus ride from Jinhua. Buses and railways connect Jinhu with Shenyang, Wenzhou, Nanchang and Shanghai. Jinhua is easily explored on bicycles and e-bikes, but buses and trains are also available.
