About Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport

A prominent international airport in the suburbs, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, commonly referred to as “Detroit Metro”, is the busiest air transportation centre in Michigan. It’s also a major hub for Delta Air Lines and a primary gateway to Asia and Europe.

Four concourses housing 129 gates serve passengers at Detroit Metro Airport. On-site amenities cluster in the Edward H. McNamara Terminal and include a four-star hotel as well as numerous retail outlets, service-oriented facilities and eateries. Indulge in Italian cuisine at Andiamo or craft cocktails at Cat Cora’s Taproom, named after the famous Iron Chef.

In the North Terminal, also known as D Concourse, you’ll find gates for carriers not associated with the SkyTeam airline alliance. There are also airline club rooms and a pet area if you’re travelling with small animals. On-site eateries include espresso shops, a beer hall and a stall selling Coney Island-style hot dogs.

Getting There

Detroit Metro Airport is located in the Romulus suburb of Detroit, about a 30-minute drive from downtown. There’s ample parking available on site, with luggage check-in locations and a ground transportation centre for shuttles, taxis and rideshare services. SMART city buses connect downtown Detroit to both terminals in just over an hour.
