About Dalby

Set on the banks of Myall Creek, Dalby is an easy-going rural town tucked away in Darling Downs and surrounded by a patchwork of cattle ranches, cotton fields and sheep farms. From historic homesteads to pint-sized museums, it's a fantastic place to discover Queensland's colourful history.

Things to do in Dalby

Just 30 minutes from Dalby, the Lake Broadwater Conservation Park is a haven for local wildlife. It's a hotspot for birdwatchers, with the chance to spot turquoise parrots, fairy wrens and nesting waterfowl. You can also see grazing Eastern grey kangaroos, red-necked wallabies and koalas dozing in the gum trees.

Set in magnificent gardens, the Jimbour Homestead is one of Australia's most elegant historic homes. Today nature enthusiasts are welcome to wander around the grounds and admire the leafy Moreton Bay figs, towering Douglas firs, blossoming Jacarandas and beautiful silky oaks.

For a glimpse at Queensland's farming legacy, don't miss the Pioneer Park Museum. Located in the Dalby town centre, it's home to the state's largest collection of pioneer-era machinery. Inside you'll find vintage tractors, a retro fire engine and memorabilia from the 11th Light Horse Brigade Motor Regiment.

The Dalby town centre is a great place for a stroll, home to historic buildings, homes and churches. You can also wander along the Myall Creek Walk, a scenic trail dotted with historic plaques.

Getting around Dalby
