Badaro attracts a bohemian crowd, while Hamra serves up some of Beirut’s best shopping. For Beirut’s best nightlife, head to the trendy Gemmayze or Mar Mikhael.
For a glimpse into Lebanon’s past, the National Museum of Beirut is a must. The AUB Museum is another cultural highlight and showcases a dazzling collection of Lebanese and Middle Eastern artefacts.
Beirut boasts gorgeous weather, so why not soak up the sunshine at one of the many beach clubs that dot the coast? You can also head to Ramlet al-Baida, Beirut’s sun-drenched public beach. At sunset, its lively promenade is a great place for a stroll.
Getting Around
Beirut is well serviced by a city bus network that will get you to most major sites and attractions. Lebanon is tiny, which makes Beirut a great base for day trips. From the Baatara Gorge and Mzaar Kfardebian ski resorts to the Byblos Castle and dazzling Jeita Grotto, it’s possible to reach most major attractions in a matter of hours.
