Golfers will find no shortage of inspiration in Bavaro, with four different courses set inland. Take in the breathtaking Caribbean landscapes along The Lakes championship fairways or enjoy the 18 holes at Cana Bay Beach Club, home to its own Hard Rock Cafe.
If you want to venture below the water’s surface, jump aboard a speedboat for an exhilarating trip out to Bavaro’s coral reefs that are teeming with colourful tropical fish. Animal lovers can get up close to dolphins, rays and sharks at Dolphin Island Park, which lies just offshore from Bavaro Beach.
Want to pick up some unique souvenirs? Make sure you visit Plaza Bavaro in the town centre where a diverse range of local handicrafts are sold. You can also spend an afternoon at the Palma Real Shopping Village on the edge of Cocotal Country Club, home to fashion boutiques, cinemas and a dedicated kid’s play area.
Bavaro is around 30 minutes’ drive north of Punta Cana International Airport, connecting with destinations across Europe, Latin America and North America. Most of the resorts are within an easy walking distance of the beach and taxis are readily available for longer journeys.
