We booked this hotel simply for the rooftop bar. Unfortunately when we arrived we were informed there was a dress code to access the bar. This information had not been shared prior and my partner didn’t have any long trousers or shoes that covered his full foot. They informed us we were not allowed to enter unless we bough or rented clothes to match the dress code. We were send to a little shop within the hotel, my partner hired some huge linen trousers and trainers for approx £13 but they were horrendous- he looked smarter in his evening shorts and Birkenstock sandals and was embarrassed to wear what had been provided. When we got up to the bar, people were wearing jeans, tracksuit bottoms and trainers! When I asked the reason for the dress code, the manager informed me that they wanted to create a smart and sophisticated environment, didn’t match up to what some people had been allowed to enter in! We then bought 2 of the cheapest drinks on the menu which were cocktails. They weren’t the best but were ok but when we got the bill it was £67 just for the 2 drinks!!! (The menu doesn’t include VAT). Our room was also tired and worn so it was disappointing with the price we paid. The view of the river from the room was amazing and the location was also really good. The pool was lovely and the breakfast was also amazing but overall it’s far to expensive for what you get and really overrated! I have always wanted to go when I have been to Bangkok but unfortunately I will not be going back.
