About Bosa

Pastel-coloured houses buildings and a centuries-old castle make Bosa one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The hilltop village overlooks the Sardinian coast and treats you to spectacular views of the surrounding hills, valleys and river. Things to do in Bosa

The Temo River flows through Bosa. Stroll along the palm-lined promenade and cross Ponte Vecchio, a three-arched bridge built with red-tinted stone. From the southern end you’ll get postcard-perfect views of colourful houses cascading down the hillside. From a distance, the village looks like a Henri Matisse painting.

Walk up to Castello Malaspina and enjoy sweeping views over the village and surrounding countryside. The hilltop stronghold was built in the 12th century and features soaring walls and stone towers. Peer into the chapel to admire a beautiful fresco painted in the 14th century.

Discover the village’s rich artistic heritage at Museo Casa Deriu. The collection is showcased in a handsome 19th-century townhouse and features works by famous Sardinian painters like Melkiorre Melis and Antonio Atza. You’ll also see antiques, hand embroidery and other artisanal crafts on display.

Spend the day at Bosa Marina, the closest beachside resort. Bask on the one-kilometre-long stretch of sand and swim in the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. A 16th-century defensive watchtower overlooks the beach and forms a dramatic backdrop.

Dine at atmospheric trattorias with stone walls and flickering candles. Enjoy Sardinian specialties like “su porcheddu” roast suckling pig cooked on a spit and “culurgiones” ravioli stuffed with potatoes, pecorino cheese and fresh mint.
